iOS 7 Basics Part 1 (LISD)

Introduction & Overview
What will you find here? What's the game plan?

This eCourse, iOS Basics Part 1, focuses on two big essentials for using iOS 7: Managing LISD Wireless Networks (Module 1) and adding LISD Outlook Web Access email accounts (Module 2).

Each learning module consists of multiple self-paced lessons which include screenshots and text-based instructions, as well as some video HOW TOs. At the end the course, users are required to pass a 10-question assessment of their skills and score a 70% or better in order to receive credit for the course. Before being tempted to skip to the end of the course and take the assessment, realize you have one shot and only one shot at the assessment, so be sure you're very familiar with all the course content before attempting the quiz! Need help with eCourses in general? This eCourse HOW TO might be helpful: http://goo.gl/iwGDXK

What should you have handy when completing this training?

Learn by doing and have this eCourse open on a desktop or laptop computer and have a separate iPad handy (these can be checked out from the library if you need one) so you apply anything you learn throughout the course.

Rationale:

iOS 7 is the mobile operating system utilized by the district's primary student and teacher device, the iPad. Lampasas ISD currently has two out of five campuses quickly approaching 1:1, with Taylor Creek and Kline Whitis Elementary teachers currently equipped with iPads, and students currently enjoying widespread access to shared iPads across the district. More iPads are on the way. In April of 2014, the district's IMA committee approved two iPad pilot programs, with one focusing on class sets of iPads for LHS Biology students and the other focusing on a true 1:1 program by providing all HSE 5th grade students with individually assigned iPads they will take from class to class (but not home at this point).

As the district moves toward 1:1, more iPads in student and teacher hands will continue to drive new approaches to instruction and learning. But in order for these new, digital approaches to learning to be successful, teachers must be confident in the use of the device. The iOS 7 Basics series of eCourses aim to increase teacher's sense of self-efficacy using iOS 7.
