SMART Interactive Whiteboards are in almost every classroom in the district. These interactive boards are similar to FLIP video cameras & iPads in that they foster a student-centered classroom, providing students the opportunity to come up to the board and engage with content of all types (text, images, video or flash-based activities), individually, with partners, or small groups. They are also great presentation tools, for both teacher and student, in that complete control over the computer and its desktop is possible from the front of the room. SMART Document Cameras (or Aver Document cameras) are also in almost every classroom in the district. They provide teachers and students with the ability to place anything under the camera – textbooks, worksheets, 3D objects... you name it – and have any action that takes place projected live through the projector onto the screen or whiteboard. Without plastic transparencies and wet erase markers (and the mess that accompanies them), and with the ability to place virtually any object under the document camera for all to see large and in full color on the screen, the possibilities for instruction are endless!
